You do not want to be these people. (it's me just in case you wondered)
This is a picture of people who are not prepared for the labor of a childbirth.
This is a picture of people who are NOT in labor.
We're at the hospital - bright eyed, bushy tailed, and SOEXCITED to have a baby. I *thought* my water had broken.
Spoiler alert... It was pee.
Yep. Just a little trickle. But enough to give me what I thought was a great reason to go to the hospital. And in my mind hospital = baby. I had glossed over the rest of it and thought I would "wing it".
You guys - have you heard stories about people being tossed into water and being told to learn how to swim? Well, that's what it's like going into an experience like this without some training.
This class will give you the training so you are prepared to swim in the experience of labor and birth. I don't love it when people are floundering when a little education would have made all the difference.
Stages of Labor
This is where most CBE (childbirth education) gets lazy. You get taught about 5-1-1 and then call it a day.
Understanding the stages of labor will make a significant difference in your experience, and it won't involve a clock.
Pushing
Just one of the many topics we'll cover that you are probably a little nervous about. And who could blame you? Let's take some of the stigma out and replace it with education and reassurance.
Birth Plans
I know, people say write one and then light it on fire. Some people also believe the Earth is flat.
Birth plans are useful if you know how to write and use one. I'll teach you all of that.
